There are no artists' renderings of our Lord from Jesus' own day. But in the titles he applied to himself, Christ painted in "word pictures" his own self-portrait. This nine-session Bible study by Pastors Roy Beutel and Steven King explores the "I AM" statements given to us by Jesus himself. In comparing Jesus words with related Scripture in both the Old and New Testaments, the study provides a well-rounded look at the center of our faith in Christ.
The Study "Portraits of Jesus" was intended for use by women's and men's groups, or for other small group fellowships gathering around the Word of God. It would also serve as an excellent follow-up to Pastor Roy Beutel's study "Who is Jesus?" (also available from Sola Publishing).

"Portraits of Jesus" was a wonderful Bible study. We used it for our adult Sunday School forum and the group found it to be very user friendly and refreshingly scriptural (compared to some materials recently used from other publishing houses).
The study provided helpful historical and contextual information that helped to deepen our understanding of the images used in the "I AM" statements of Jesus and good questions to help provide and guide conversation.
There was also great use of the Old Testament to also futher ground and deepen the groups understanding of these "I AM" and to tie the whole of Scripture (Old and New Testament) together.
